The new client consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll visit your home to meet you and your pets, ask a few questions, and learn about their routine and personality. Meet and greets typically take 30 minutes to an hour depending on how many pets you have and the specificity of their needs. We’ll walk through what a typical visit might look like and talk through any concerns or special instructions.

It’s also a great time to go over my policies, get familiar with your space, and make sure we’re all a good fit before beginning care.

Every pet is unique, and my goal is to tailor each visit to meet their individual needs and preferences. That might mean adjusting the pace of a walk, playing with favorite toys, or following specific routines that help your pet feel safe and comfortable.

For example, if your dog has arthritis, we might modify a 30-minute walk to include 15 minutes of gentle backyard play and 15 minutes of walking to ease the strain on their joints. No matter your pet’s age or energy level, I’ll work with you during the meet and greet to create a care plan that suits them best.

I use an app called Time To Pet to keep everything organized and easy for you. Before our initial meet & greet, you’ll receive an invite to create your client account with The Soft Paw. There, you’ll be able to fill out your personal details and share important information about your pet, so I can get to know them a bit before we meet in person.

Once we’ve decided we’re a good fit, you can use the app to request services, pay invoices, review visit reports, and even see GPS-tracked routes for dog walks—all in one place.

You’ll receive a real-time notification through the Time To Pet app as soon as I arrive for a visit. After each visit, you’ll also receive a detailed report with notes about how your pet did, time stamps, and photos from our time together. For any service that includes a walk, you’ll be able to view a GPS-tracked route as well.

I use two-hour time windows to give a buffer for things like traffic, weather, or unexpected needs at a prior visit. This helps me avoid rushing and ensures every pet gets the thoughtful care they deserve.

If your pet has a medical need that requires more precise timing, just let me know—I’m always happy to accommodate when possible.

No—my role isn’t to train or correct behavior, but to ensure your pets feel safe, supported, and comfortable while you’re away. I do offer positive reinforcement like treats and praise, always guided by your preferences.
